Linguistic discrimination and identification
-Identify and state the name of the letters of the alphabet in the target language -Discriminate and produce contrasting sounds
-Recognize and produce question intonations

Proficiency in oral vocabulary
-Identify and locate objects in the environment
-organize and classify vocabulary presented in the various topics
-characterize self and objects in the environment
-compare and analyze different characteristics

Communicate in short and simple sentences
-Exchange simple, common expressions of greeting and leave
-taking
-ask and respond to who, what, when, where, and how many requests
-ask and respond to questions using common action verbs in present tense

Listening skills
-Learn songs and poems in the target language
-follow one
-step directions and commands
-Ask and respond to yes/no question which verify understanding of a story or presentation in the target language
-Follow the steps or instructions in a directed game or exercise

Understanding and tolerance
-Develop an appreciation for the similarities between the native culture and the target culture
