III. Interdisciplinary
Study Abroad Programs
Memphis/Mainz/Wiesbaden/ German Television ZDF
The University of Memphis
participates in a unique partnership with German Television ZDF, the
University of
Mainz, the University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden, and
the American Consulate in Frankfurt. This program is aimed primarily at
students from the areas Journalism, Communications, and Film and
Broadcasting, but is also open to students from other areas such as
other fine arts or social work. Students who participate in the program
are automatically eligible for a paid internship at the German
television station ZDF, which is also located in Mainz. This provides
them with a unique opportunity to put their language skills to use at
the university and in a working environment and receive significant
insight into the German media system. Contact
Dr. Joseph
Hayden in Journalism for more information about the program.
In this program students
from Business Administration, Communication, and Political Science have
the chance to study at the Fachhochschule Jena for one semester and
complete a four week internship at a German company. This program,
sponsored through a federal grant, also provides substantial financial
support for students participating in the program. Contact
Dr. Moira
Logan in the College of Communications and Fine Arts for more
information about the program.
The International IMBA
program is a graduate program that combines language, culture, and
business. The German track offers the opportunity to study for one
semester at the Catholic University of Eichstätt/Ingolstadt and a
four-month paid internship at a company in Germany. Students work on a
project and write a report in German about it. Before their departure,
students are prepared in two demanding graduate courses in German for
their stay in Germany. For more information please contact Dr. Monika
Nenon or the IMBA coordinator
Ms. Pat Taylor.
